Don reflects on his new album

My new CD, Together, has just appeared! I play piano, with David Finck on bass and Michael Berkowitz on drums.

For many years I have been performing primarily as an accompanist and musical director for singers ranging from Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to Miss Peggy Lee. With this CD, I wanted to showcase myself as a composer and solo jazz pianist.

I can’t speak highly enough about the two other gentlemen on this album. David Finck is one of the most highly sought after bassists on the New York jazz scene today, having worked with everyone from Rod Stewart to Andre Previn. Drummer Michael Berkowitz began his career as an LA studio musician, where he developed a musical relationship with the late Nelson Riddle. He currently conducts pops concerts with major orchestras throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe.

I would like to thank Stephen Holden of The New York Times for his kind words, Kent and Lois Heckman of Red Rock Studios for a wonderful recording experience, and Brian Ashby for his marvelous photography.

This album is dedicated to the two people who have always been there for me, my parents, Mel and Bea Rebic.
